Iron Brush Charity Day!

Our 15 year Anniversary Charity Day! We raised money for the LUX center for the Arts! 100% of all tattoos and body piercings went to the LUX.

We also accepted an incredible amount donations directly to the LUX. Relentless Merch was screening special event T-shirts live and donated the profits, and Motorfood was on site with some of the best food I have had in a long time. (Screaming Demon-is a 5 star sandwich anywhere on this planet). We had a raffle for a $300 tattoo (congratulations our winner Megan!!).

We areย  so grateful for the incredible turnout! and so proud we can contribute to such an amazing community, who showed up to give so generously.

Special thanks to our sponsor Lucky Tattoo Supply!

All in all, we raised: $6,671.00 for the LUX center for the arts!!

That is about 1/3 of their annual budget for the the art van, or 12 six week classes in the art van, or 90 scholarships. Thank you everyone for all your generous donations!

What is the LUX Art Van: Staffed by artists and educators Art Van deLUX contains all of the equipment and materials needed to facilitate a wide variety of hands-on art classes, such as ceramics, painting, drawing, jewelry making, printmaking, beadwork and textiles and general arts education. The LUX Art Van travels to low-income schools, St. Elizabeths, Youth Services Center and so many more places with all of the supplies that are necessary for that certain class, workshop or activity.

LUX Center for the Arts is a non-profit art center that offers experiences to suit a wide range of interests and tastes.ย  We teach art classes for youth and adults in pottery, printmaking, painting, jewelry, glass, and fibers. Classes are held at the art center or can be taken off-site with the Art Van deLUX program. Exhibitions in two galleries and a gift gallery represent the highest caliber art work of local, regional, and national artists.

As the only organization of its kind in Lincoln, coupled with its commitment to community outreach and an artist-in-residence program, LUX Center for the Arts is an important resource for the visual arts in our community.

Guest Artist: Steve Barjonah at Iron Brush

ย Steve Barjonah’s tattoo career began in 1988 in San Diego, CA. while serving in the U.S. Navy, aboard the U.S.S.ย  Elliot (DD967).ย  Shipmate Rick Demyen, the resident artist and tattooer, saw Steve’s interest and offered him an apprenticeship.ย  31/2 years later, Steve was honorably discharged and began tattooing full-time at Avalon Tattoo with Fip Buchanan, Patty Kelley, and Mike Stobbe.ย  “working on the general public was like starting all over again!”, say’s Steve, “And working at Avalon with some high-power artists really got me on the right track.ย  I am eternally grateful for all their help”.ย  During that time, Steve worked at and attended many conventions across the U.S., watching and learning from some of the best in the business, including some special visits with Paul Jeffries to get tattooed and have some ” Advanced Apprenticeship” lessons in drawing composition and flash designing.ย  Steve continues to push himself to the next level and really enjoys being a part of this exciting and ever-changing art form.ย ย

Guest Spot: Chad from Liquid Courage Tattoo

Iron Brush is proud to welcome Chad from Liquid Courage Tattoo. Chad will be tattooing at Iron Brush doing walk-ins first come first serve Sept 20-24. Chad has been tattooing more that 8 years I am especially inspired by hisย  ‘Polynesian style’ tribal and black and grey tattoos. The tribal style he works in is truly something he created, drawing from traditional sources and making something new that works well with the body and is built to last a lifetime.Chad is a firestorm of energy and creative ideas. A true artist at heart, Chad is someone I can look up to and am always excited to see what he is planning work on next. He has done pin striping, to graffiti, car building, tattooing, ink paintings, watercolor, mix-media, and I don’t even know what is next.ย  Don’t miss this opportunity to get tattooed by him. Chad normally works at Liquid Courage and Sailor’s Grave in Omaha.

Iron Brush is Proud to Welcome Dave Koenig as a Guest Artist!

We are so proud to be offering tattoo work from one of Omaha’s finest tattooers!
Dave will be tattooing with us for one week, and he will be available for walk-ins.
I have admired Dave’s work as a tattooer and artist for years now, and I know I
speak for everyone at Iron Brush when I say that we have looked to him for inspiration
as well as pure tattoo dedication. Dave is an incredible tattooer, prolific painter, and
unstoppable spirit with remarkable creativity.

The tattoo gods have blessed us with a visit from July 18-23. Normally, Dave works at Liquid Courage
and Sailors Grave in Omaha.
Do not miss this opportunity to get tattooed by him. He will be available on a first come first serve basis,
so stop in to see him. I have posted some of his work here:
